Are you ready to look at "Layer Cake" bundles just a little differently? Do you have fabric laying around that you'd love to put into a wonderful quilt top? Have you wanted to learn to chain piece to work quickly? How about learning to do a paper foundation technique to change up your quilt squares?
Terrace Tiles is a wonderful quilt pattern that students will learn to change up and look at different options for creating exactly the look YOU want! This quilt top creates a large throw perfect for your decor or beds. Your chosen fabrics will depict the personality of your quilt. Purchasing a layer cake OR cutting your own 10" squares for the main fabric AND background like I did. For best results, have your center strips and optional background 10" squares contrast against your chosen tiles, so the design is easily readable. Help with background fabric ideas can be discussed at class.
A scrappy look is great if you have various 10" squares or 5" x 10" strips leftover from previous projects.

-Christa Quilts Terrace Tiles pattern purchased at Sew Special Quilts
Materials:
- 1 colorful layer cake or various 10" squares or 5"x10" rectangles
- 1 contrasting fabric for the center strip and optional 10" squares
- 2.5 yards of the background fabric
- Sewing machine, neutral thread, scissors, pins, seam ripper
- Student must know how to use the sewing machine
For Paper Piecing:
- Foundation Paper
- Add-A-Quarter Ruler
Optional: (available at Sew Special Quilt shop)
- extra fabric in case you'd like more options
- Wonder clips
- 1/4" foot
- small pressing iron
- small iron mat
- Rotary cutter
- 18" cutting mat
- Lunch and snacks for energy!
