You will learn to work sew zippers, vinyl and mesh. Tips and tricks will be provided throughout the class with step-by-step instruction for creating a handle, placing inside and outside pockets and importantly attaching binding. Instruction for fussy cutting ideas will also be provided.

You will not finish the project in class. There will be a follow up class offered if needed. (This is decided at class with all the students)

Materials:

• ¾ yard main case body and pocket fabric (main case body will hardly show)
• ¾ yard lining and pockets fabric (this will show outside the bag!)
• ¾ yard coordinating fabric for bindings, straps, handle, zipper pulls
• Additional 1 FQ for fussy cutting fabric for outside pockets if desired and more fabric coordination option

• 36” x 58” Soft n Stable OR 14” x 22” Soft n Stable for case body AND 27” x 14” thin batting or double SF101 for pockets (for less bulk)
• 7” x12.5” SF101
• 4” x 13.5” mesh
• 12” x 12.5” vinyl
• Handbag zippers 100” long (40” for outside case) (60” for 4 inside pockets) 1 package of zippers by the yard is enough (see pattern for any questions) By Annie type is ideal, or any #4.5 or #5 size zippers should work
• ¾ yard 1” polyester strapping (this can be covered with fabric or left as is)
• ¾ yard of 20mm Fold-over elastic

• Sewing machine, neutral and zipper color matching polyester thread, pins, scissors, seam ripper, fabric marker, wonder clips, rotary cutter

• Stitch in the Ditch foot

• 1/8” craft tape, SUP217 1/8" Double Sided Basting Tape ByAnnie
• ¼” craft tape, Double Sided Tape

• Stiletto
• 8.5” x 12.5” ruler is great for this project
• 18" cutting mat

CLASS PREP - Please bring in Quilted:

-Quilt Set B - Main Body (14" x 22") with your choice of batting or soft and stable
NOTE: Most of this outside fabric will NOT show, because it is covered with your OUTSIDE pockets.
-Quilt Set A - Pockets (27" x 14") with THIN Batting (Pellon 987F) or like SF101 Interface
NOTE: This will show on your outside bag.
-Have 2” x 70” bias binding ready for outside case
-2” x 153” binding for pockets (does not need to be bias)
