You will learn to work with Soft n Stable, zippers, vinyl and magnetic snaps. Tips and tricks will be provided throughout the class with step-by-step instructions for creating inside and outside pockets and more importantly attaching the binding. Instructions for fussy cutting ideas will also be provided.

Materials:
- Additional 1 FQ for fussy cutting fabric for outside pockets if desired and more fabric coordination options
- Interface option:
-Soft n Stable or firm interfacing for the body ALSO
-Use thin batting (Pellon 987F) or SF101 for the POCKETS (for less bulk). If you have questions, we can discuss them in class. Outside front flap and back slip in pocket will cover MOST of the body, so plan accordingly.
- Sewing machine, neutral and zipper color matching polyester thread, pins, scissors, seam ripper, fabric marker, wonder clips, and rotary cutter
* Student must know how to use the sewing machine
Optional: (available at Sew Special Quilt shop)
- Personal or fabric labels
- No fabric handle nor fabric handle stabilizer needed if using 1” polypro colored or decorative strapping.
- Sewing machine table extension (helps keep project flat while sewing!)
- 1/4" foot
- Stich in the Ditch foot
- Zipper foot
- 1/8” craft tape
- 1/4” craft tape
- Basting glue
- Stiletto
- 8” x 14” ruler is great for this project
- 18" cutting mat
- Bring extra Soft n Stable in case of any cutting challenges
- Lunch and snacks for energy and save time!
NOTE: OPTIONAL Homework If you’d like to try an complete entire project in class
- Quilt the BODY FRONT, BODY Back, FLAP and SIDE STRIP with Soft n Stable before class (this body main fabric will hardly show on the outside, but gets covered with pockets) Pg. 3 Cut quilted fabric and seal
- Lightly quilt the Case POCKET A & D with thin interface like (Pellon 987F or SF101) before class (this fabric will show on the outside, but the thinner interface will reduce bulk) Pg. 3 Cut quilted fabric and seal
- Have 2 1/4” bias binding ready for outside tote
- If you prefer, quilt items in class, but you may not have time to finish entire project. Follow-on class may be scheduled if needed.
